BEYOND CATALONIA:SRPSKA
Beyond Catalonia is a documentary series that attempts to explain some of the main independence movements in Europe, and some of the lesser-known ones. This episode focuses on Republika Srpska. The Bosnian War saw ethnic conflicts between Bosniaks, Serbs and Croats, resulting in horrific violence, with the Muslim population being the main victim. In the aftermath, a fragile peace and a decentralised political structure were established, creating two entities: the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republika Srpska, inhabited almost exclusively by Serbs. Despite the formal resolution of the war, nationalist sentiments persist in Republika Srpska, where leaders still advocate for independence and where, even today, they continue to celebrate war.
