Beyond Catalonia is a documentary series that attempts to explain some of the main independence movements in Europe, and some of the lesser-known ones. This episode focuses on the French region of Brittany. Breton is certainly not the strongest nationalist movement in Europe, and for decades even its language has suffered greatly, almost to the point of disappearing. I once met a woman who never got to speak to her grandfather because he was embarrassed to speak to her in Breton, the only language he knew. But today, this is changing and nationalist sentiment is growing.
